Founded in 1914, The Risk Management Association (RMA) is a not-for-profit, member-driven professional association whose sole purpose is to advance the use of sound risk principles in the financial services industry. RMA promotes an enterprise approach to risk management that focuses on credit risk, market risk, and operational risk.

Headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, RMA has 3,000 institutional members that include banks of all sizes as well as nonbank financial institutions. They are represented in the association by over 20,000 risk management professionals who are chapter members in financial centers throughout North America, Europe, and Asia/Pacific.

The Atlanta Chapter, like all RMA chapters, is organized and run by volunteer members. We strongly encourage current or prospective members to become involved in shaping the future direction of the chapter by contacting any of the current officers or committee chairs. We would also be happy to discuss the many benefits that can be derived from membership in RMA.

RMA's Atlanta Chapter, formed in 1984, is composed of members from North Georgia and metro Atlanta. There are over 300 Associate and 75 Institutional members. Our Chapter has focused on involving a wide spectrum of members from both community and regional banks in a variety of programs that support professional growth, leadership, and community involvement.

The Chapter has a Monthly Chapter Luncheon series where prominent area business leaders and government officials address topics of importance to our members. In the spring, we host an Annual Member-Guest Golf Tournament. Our Women in Banking Committee showcases the achievements of women in our community by bringing in leaders who can share their success and serve as mentors to Chapter members. And as always, there are many local opportunities to participate in classroom-based RMA Educational Programs, as well as web-based resources through the RMA national Web site.

The Atlanta Chapter is made up of professionals from diverse backgrounds and interests. The Chapter seeks to provide fulfilling opportunities for every stage of members' careers.
