Founded in 1914, The Risk Management Association (RMA) is a not-for-profit, member-driven professional association whose sole purpose is to advance the use of sound risk principles in the financial services industry. RMA promotes an enterprise approach to risk management that focuses on credit risk, market risk, and operational risk.

Headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, RMA has approximately 3,000 institutional members that include banks of all sizes as well as nonbank financial institutions. They are represented in the association by 18,000 risk management professionals who are chapter members in financial centers throughout North America, Europe, and Asia/Pacific.

The Northern Utah Chapter, like all RMA chapters, is organized and run by volunteer members. We strongly encourage current or prospective members to become involved in shaping the future direction of the chapter by contacting any of the current officers or committee chairs. We would also be happy to discuss the many benefits that can be derived from membership in RMA.

The Northern Utah Chapter separated from the Mountains States Chapter and became an independent chapter in 2004. The chapter encompasses all of Northern Utah from North of Salt Lake City to the Idaho Boarder, parts of Southern Idaho and Southwestern Wyoming. Our chapter is very small but we are active and involved in our banking communities. RMA provides the commercial lenders in our region with numerous educational resources to excel in our jobs.

The chapter meets monthly from September through May. Luncheons are held at noon on a rotating schedule at either Maddox in Perry, Utah or at The Prairie Schooner in Ogden, Utah. Guest speakers provide a 30-minute program on a wide array of pertinent topics. Over the years, members have heard excellent speakers and had the opportunity to network and build strong working relationships with their peers. We have access to tremendous resources through our association with RMA. Anyone interested in participating in our chapter’s valuable professional activities is welcome. If you are not receiving monthly notification of our meetings, please contact the chapter leaders to confirm your attendance at any of the general membership meetings.
