VIP Campaign

Value
Involvement
Performance

In order to maximize the perceived value of the chapters membership, the chapter has to understand the needs of its members.

Ways to understand Associate needs:

  • Diversity of the board.
  • Survey the membership after each meeting.
  • Establish a long range planning committee.
  • Survey membership on long range issues.

Maximizing the perceived value helps in membership recruitment. Tell the potential members what value their membership will bring to them.

Ways to communicate activities that offer value:

  • List of activities that have been done in the last several years.
  • List of what is planned for the current year.
  • Provide potential membership a packet of sample chapter newsletters, programs, training information, etc.

Other actions to be taken include:

  • Name a membership chairperson to lead the charge.
  • Determine institutions that are good potential candidates.
  • Select a membership committee to help the membership chairperson.
  • Tie the chapter's efforts to national efforts and focus on identified candidates.

Additional ideas to inspire increased membership:

  • Invite potential candidates to a meeting.
  • Pair up potential candidates with a current member.
  • Call on potential members.
  • Communicate with our member relations consultant for your area—either Community Bank (assets below $1 billion) or Large Financial Institution (assets of $1 billion and up)
  • Make the process part of your summer planning.
  • Have a welcoming committee.
