Rebuilding Enthusiasm at the Local Level

  • Identify core leaders at the board level who are willing to work with you.
  • Take an honest look at the board as a whole. Need new blood?
  • Look at your membership; determine which sector(s) do NOT participate and develop a plan targeting those groups. Women? Young bankers? Accountants?
  • If attendance is weak at general membership meetings, feature a well-known speaker to boost attendance, and use that meeting to recruit new and renewed membership participation. Consider the normal time and place of meetings. Try something different.
  • Talk to chapters that have been successful. See what you can learn from their efforts.
  • Sponsor an educational program (i.e., "Lending to..."). This can help to redefine the value added benefits of RMA membership.
  • Stage a round table for senior managers. This can provide them with a great networking opportunity and give you a chance to enlist their support for your efforts.
