Past President Advisory Committee

Basic Role

The main responsibility of this committee is to provide support to the current chapter president and to guide the chapter to ensure its long-term success.  The committee will accomplish this by fulfilling the chapter’s long-range planning needs, identifying future chapter leaders and ensuring the maintenance of chapter records.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Be a cheerleader for the chapter president.
  • Attend all scheduled board meetings, taking an active part in each.
  • Serve on one of the working committees and take an active part in that committee.
  • Evaluate and accomplish projects that assist in the chapter's expansion, effectiveness, and longevity. Examine critically what the chapter is doing to determine how the chapter could more effectively serve its members needs in the future. Present suggestions/recommendations to the board for discussion and actionable items.
  • Keep current with activities, personnel, and resources at the national level to identify resources that could be leveraged at the chapter level.
  • Keep current with the chapter's by-laws and provide support/advice to the president to ensure that the chapter operates within the spirit of the by-laws.
  • In conjunction with the current president, identify responsible individuals within the volunteer base to develop for future chapter leadership roles. In conjunction with the board of directors, identify weaknesses in the volunteer base and implement a plan to address that weakness.
  • Annually, in August, audit all records of the chapter (president, secretary, treasurer, membership/communication, etc.) to ensure that the records of the chapter are intact and transitioned to the incoming chapter officers.
  • To serve as a resource to board members for information on past activities, chapter accomplishments and failures.
