TIPS FOR SUCCESS
RMA's Chapter structure is one of its greatest strengths. No other banking organization is capable of delivering targeted programming to institutional members with the precision that local Chapters can.
All local units of RMA are now known as Chapters. However, RMA recognizes differences in the capacity of Chapters based on the size of the local marketplace, the nature of the banking business in that marketplace, and the number of volunteers available to the Chapter. Presently, RMA uses the terms small, medium, large, and regional when referring to Chapters.
RMA believes that planning is the key to a successful Chapter's year. To assist in the planning effort, RMA has developed a STAR report that combines forward planning with a record of how the year has turned out. The STAR form helps leaders decide what a Chapter of their size and capacity might be capable of achieving during a year. Awards are given annually for Chapters that reach a minimum number of points.
Chapter bylaws should be reviewed every two years to ensure their usefulness for the local unit over time. Attention must be given to tax forms, which may have to be completed as the Chapter's revenues grow.
Surveying your membership every two years is key to determining your members' needs and will assist you in the planning process.
