Better Risk Management Means Better Risk Management
Practical Tools to Manage Credit, Market, and Operational Risks

Partner with RMA to Confront Risk Management Challenges
RMA relies on you, our members, as we undertake studies to help you better identify, assess, and manage risks. With your participation, we develop commercial and retail risk data used for our information and decision products. The data we use in our studies is generally not publicly available, so our efforts are truly unique, insightful, and highly reliable. And because you are the source of our information, our products correspond directly to your needs.

Our relationship with institutions that share information with us is governed by a strong commitment to objectivity, confidentiality, and flexibility. The results of our pooled data research and most of our product offerings are available only to participating institutions. In turn, those institutions use the information to improve their borrower/portfolio strategies and models.

Thought Leadership and Best Practices

The Essential Building Blocks

  1. Annual Statement Studies—Financial Ratio Benchmarks (FRB)
The original Annual Statement Studies, this publication is the only source of financial statement benchmarks derived directly from more than 190,000 statements of financial institution borrowers and prospects. These financial statements come directly to RMA from our member institutions, which get their data straight from the customer.

  2. Annual Statement Studies—Industry Default Probabilities and Cash Flow Measures (IDP)
This companion publication contains probability of default estimates, cash flow measures, and change in financial position information for more than 600 industries. It represents a major content expansion of the Annual Statement Studies—Financial Ratio Benchmarks.

IDP brings together the power of Moody's RiskCalc™ for private companies and the Statement Studies database to provide distribution statistics on one-year and five-year probability of default estimates by industry. The new benchmarks add substantial value to the critical analysis of cash flow for private companies.

  3. Loss Given Default (LGD) Study
A data exchange project that focuses on commercial loan loss and recovery rates by industry, type of default, and various facility attributes, including collateral and the type and purpose of facility. The new Basel Accord makes participation in this project even more timely.

  4. Consumer Loan Studies
A data exchange project that focuses on retail product composition and performance. Available monthly:
    • Performance statistics
    • Delinquency and charge-off data on 14 loan products
    • Annual practices survey(s)
    • Peer reporting

  5. Risk Analysis Service
A commercial loan benchmarking service that allows participating institutions to compare the composition and performance of their portfolios to those of their peers.
