Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Audioconference Cassette Tape
|
The Facts Compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and its related laws and regulations is probably the number one regulatory risk—and to a related degree, reputational risk, facing banks today. It is also a duty and responsibility of banks and other financial institutions. Multi-million dollar assessments, huge compliance costs, and substantial allocations of time and resources have characterized BSA compliance over the past year, yet access to practical guidance remains illusive.
Nationally Recognized Experts RMA, in conjunction with the American Association of Bank Directors (AABD), recognizes this substantial gap in information and is presenting a special audioconference featuring David Baris, Esquire, Partner, Kennedy & Baris, LLP and Robert Serino, Senior Advisor for Financial Services, Watkins Consulting, Inc. Mr. Baris is the Executive Director of the AABD, an organization which has been active in representing the interests of bank and savings institution directors before the U.S. Congress, the federal and state banking agencies, and other legislative and agency bodies. He is also the former Regional Counsel to the Comptroller of the Currency. Mr. Serino is Advisor – Money Laundering & Bank Enforcement with the AABD and is a retired Deputy Chief Counsel with the OCC.
What You Will Take Away
- Our panelists will provide participants with concrete steps that any bank can take to help minimize the risk of liability from BSA non-compliance.
- The panelists will cover what bank directors and senior management need to know about the BSA and its regulations and the "hot buttons" for the banking agencies and FinCEN.
- The audioconference also will discuss various sources of regulatory guidance that can dramatically affect how your bank will be evaluated and rated, how the examiners are given broad leeway in interpreting the BSA compliance responsibilities of a bank, examples of examiner interpretations that could have a hugely negative impact on your bank unless your bank is prepared, and what role the board and senior management can play to minimize compliance risk to the bank.
