This is to inform you of circumstances in which using the Annual Statement Studies® data requires a signed license agreement. You must purchase the data and execute a license agreement if you are using RMA’s information for the following:
- Client reports
- Business valuations
- Litigation or arbitration proceedings
In general, any client, non-internal, or public dissemination of RMA data requires a “right to use” license agreement.
Whether you purchase the data in the form of the RMA Annual Statement Studies® book(s) or from a third-party vendor (i.e., ValuSource), you will need to execute a license. If you purchase eStatement Studies™ from RMA, the cost of the license agreement is included in the subscription price.
“Right to use” is defined as one license for each person in a firm or organization who intends to use the Annual Statement Studies® in their client reports, business valuations, litigation or arbitration proceedings, or other public dissemination of RMA data. By way of example, in a single proprietor practice, one license is needed. In a practice with five professionals who each intend to use Annual Statement Studies® data to prepare client reports, valuations, etc., five licenses would be required.
Thus, if five people are using the data, five books and five “right to incorporate” licenses must be purchased. The license would be for one year from the date of execution of the license agreement, and would cover one set of data as per the agreement (i.e., if the 2007-08data is licensed, and newer data is available, only the 2007-08 data is provided).

Please contact our Statement Studies division at studies@rmahq.org if you are interested in obtaining a license agreement. You may then return the executed agreement via fax or postal mail. If additional people in your firm also need a usage license, please feel free to make copies of the agreement and send in an agreement for each user. In either case, you will be invoiced accordingly.
