RMA and it's Securities Lending Committee are pleased to announce the annual industry-wide Conference on Securities Lending, sponsored and developed by and for securities lending and borrowing professionals. The conference co-chairs, James Lailey, Deutsche Bank, Alejandro Berney, Citi, and the conference planning committee are developing a comprehensive, interesting, and relevant business program that you won't want to miss.

Panel discussions with lenders, agents, borrowers, consultants, and business leaders include:

  • Global Short Selling Restrictions
  • Advantages and Disadvantages for the current lending model in Brazil
  • The Impact of Dodd-Frank on Securities Lending
  • The Implications of Tax, Regulatory, and Capital Reforms on Securities Lending

Latin American Markets Tutorial
A comprehensive tutorial that covers securities lending in the Latin American region and the issues facing both borrowers and lenders. The tutorial will discuss the more developed markets in Brazil and Mexico as well as developing markets in Chile and Colombia. This tutorial will also address common industry misperceptions about the different securities lending and borrowing markets in the region. You will learn how to identify the risks, how to control and mitigate them, and how a central counterparty works. In addition to the nuances of each market, the legal, regulatory, and tax aspects will be discussed as well as the future of the LATAM SBL market.

PRIVATE EVENTS
A private event is an invitation-only outing, dinner party, or reception hosted by an organization or group other than the RMA. Private events are not considered part of the conference program agenda and, as such, should not interfere with the conference program or sponsored events. Please refrain from holding events on Monday evening before 10:00 p.m. If your organization is planning an event for Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evening, please plan the start of the event for 7:30 p.m. or later. If your organization is providing transportation to off-site venues, delegates should not be picked up at the hotel until 7:00 p.m. We ask that you please support the sponsors of all of the conference events recognizing their financial commitment to the particular event (food/beverage cost) and the conference.

RMA would also very much appreciate your cooperation in refraining from scheduling any other events, such as golf outings and special tours, during the conference business program.

The Boca Raton Resort has excellent restaurants for your private dinners, as well as great venues for more casual events. If you would like information on planning an event at Boca please contact Convention Services Manager Howard Goldberg at hgoldberg@luxuryresorts.com.

Conference room rates—starting as low as $149 per night, or $219 per night for the Boca Beach Club—will END September 13.  Please be sure to make your reservation at Boca as soon as possible. Click the Housing link at the top of this page for more information. If you have any reservation questions please send an e-mail to Candice Donelan at cdonelan@luxuryresorts.com.
