David R. Coxon of State Bank of Georgia Elected RMA Chair; John J. Wixted Jr. of PNC Bank Elected Vice Chair

 

Philadelphia, PA ( September 01, 2010 ) — David R. Coxon, president and CEO, State Bank of Georgia, Fayetteville, Ga., was elected chair of The Risk Management Association (RMA). John J. Wixted Jr., chief risk officer and executive vice president of PNC Mortgage Company, a subsidiary of PNC Bank, was elected vice chair. Their one-year terms began September 1, 2010.

An active member of RMA since the early 1980s, Coxon formerly was chair of RMA’s Community Bank Council. He also is a past chair of RMA’s Atlanta Chapter.

Prior to leading State Bank of Georgia, Coxon was president and CEO of Southern Community Bank, Fayetteville, and United Community Bank, Fairburn, Ga. He began his banking career at Columbia Bank & Trust, now part of Synovus, and also held senior management positions at Bank South and United Bank.

Coxon holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Columbus State University and a master’s degree in management from Mercer University.

Wixted formerly was chair of RMA’s Regulatory Relations Council and is still a member of that council, as well as of the Enterprise Risk Management Council. He is a past officer in RMA’s Chicago Chapter.

Prior to joining PNC Bank, the new vice chair was senior vice president for banking supervision for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and held several key leadership positions with the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland.

Wixted graduated from Pennsylvania State University’s Smeal College of Business with a bachelor’s degree in finance. He also earned an international banking degree from the University of Colorado and a master’s degree in banking and finance from Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management.

Newly elected to the RMA Board of Directors for three-year terms are:

Gary A. Green, executive vice president and manager, California Bank & Trust, Tustin, Calif.

Michael J. Loughlin, executive vice president and chief risk officer, Wells Fargo, San Francisco, Calif.

Kristine D. Price, executive vice president and chief credit officer, Bank of Nevada, Las Vegas, Nev.

Brian Robertson, group managing director and group chief risk officer, HSBC, London, England, United Kingdom.

Alma R. Shuckhart, senior executive vice president and chief credit officer, TIB Bank, Naples, Fla.

In addition, the following were newly named to chair RMA councils and committees:

Chapters and Membership Council: Karen Bjelland, senior vice president and senior commercial credit administrator, First Citizens Bank, Greenville, S.C.

Operational Risk Council: Daniel J. Roussell, senior vice president and head, Operational Risk, State Street, Boston, Mass.

Professional Development Committee: James Gregory Olivier, senior executive vice president and chief credit and risk officer, First Southern Bank, Boca Raton, Fla.
