Advanced Risk Management Practices in Asset Management Activities
Advanced Risk Management Practices in Asset Management Activities builds on the lessons learned from the once-in-a-generation financial crisis which has affected the global asset management industry. Assets under management have imploded, and risk managers are revisiting the prevailing industry paradigms and questioning the applicability of the consecrated risk measures in the new market.
This seminar will review the events which shattered the financial markets and will question the risk management implications. Certain fundamental market standards, such as differentiating between absolute and relative risk/return performance metrics, will be discussed and challenged in a group discussion.
Key analytical concepts-of both traditional and innovative natures-will be exhibited via case studies. Attendees will use course material coupled with their own experiences to solve these real-life situations drawn from recent incidents in the asset management industry.
Centred on risk quantification methodologies, this course will draw on attendees’ collective experience and expertise in defining the best-suited processes and support systems-best practices-geared towards quantifying, limiting and controlling financial risks in asset management firms. It also will engage participants in separating the specific requirements of various asset management functions: mutual funds, hedge funds and funds of hedge funds, defined contributions/defined benefits plans and insurance/reinsurance businesses.
Who will benefit?
Mid-level managers in banking and regulatory agencies/auditing firms, banking and insurance/reinsurance treasury professionals, risk managers and risk controllers, auditors (internal and external), fixed income (cash and derivatives) traders, IT professionals specialising in treasury systems and executives who are members of ALCOs (asset/liability committees) will benefit from attending this seminar.
