Present Job Function: Vernon is executive vice president and chief learning officer of Truist Financial Corporation. She is an active member of the senior human resources leadership team. In her current role, she oversees end to end learning responsibilities to include the build, implementation and evaluation of learning development strategies that support Truist business objectives and enforce the purpose, mission, and vales of the organization.
She joined the firm in 1997 as an early career leadership associate. The first several years of her career were spent in the retail community bank where she worked as a lender and branch leader. She later transitioned to the learning & development organization. She took on the role of early career leadership development manager in 2005, where she held responsibilities for the recruitment, development and retention of early career teammates. In 2019, she was promoted to her current role of chief learning officer.
Education: Vernon holds a degree in economics from UNC Chapel Hill University. She completed her SPHR certification in 2009.
