Instructional Designer(1)

Position Purpose 

The Instructional Designer is responsible for planning, designing and developing engaging learning experiences. The individual will help to build and revise a rich library of off-the-shelf, instructor-led and online training products, developed for credit and risk professionals in banking and financial services.  The Instructional Designer works in close collaboration with external subject matter experts and internal teams.  

Principal Accountabilities

  • Identify instructional strategies that align with instructional goals and anticipated learning outcomes
  • Design end-to-end learning solutions such as and not limited to instructor-led, e-learning, virtual, that incorporate best practices in adult learning theory and cognitive science 
  • Conduct industry research and interviews with subject matter experts and translate findings into effective learning experiences
  • Apply appropriate interaction design and interactive learning principles
  • Accommodate social, cultural, political, and other individual factors that may influence learning
  • Integrate existing instructional materials into the design
  • Coordinates the review, revision, editorial, and document production process
  • Communicate with team members on all phases of the project in order to prepare for an orderly product launch
  • Prepare sales force to be able to discuss the course, expected outcomes, and benefits with members and other customers
  • Maintain project documentation and digital course files
  • Function as staff resource for assigned courses   
  • Observe instructor-led classes for the purposes of assessing program effectiveness and evaluating instructor performance
  • Evaluate course feedback, recommend changes, and oversee implementation of necessary changes in program or materials 

Qualifications 

Minimum qualifications: 

    • Bachelor's degree with a Certificate in Instructional Design or equivalent practical experience 
    • 3-5 years of experience as an instructional designer
    • Experience with e-learning frameworks such as Adaptive Learning, ADDIE, SAM, or other learning development approaches
    • Experience in designing, developing and testing eLearning content
    • Experience with multiple authoring tools (e.g., Adobe Captivate, Lectora, Articulate Storyline, Adapt, Camtasia, etc.)
    • Intermediate to Advanced level proficiency in PC based word processing and spreadsheet applications in a Windows environment 
    • Strong project management skills with the ability to multi-task and advance activities across multiple concurrent work streams 

Preferred qualifications: 

    • Hands-on experience developing original learning products in Articulate Storyline or Rise 
    • Experience making e-learning exciting, fun and social
    • In-depth knowledge of current and emerging adult learning theory and how it is put into practice in corporate learning
    • Ability to build relationships and to collaborate with effectively across functions and levels. 
    • Ability to communicate complex concepts concisely and clearly
    • Excellent editing, writing, and critical reasoning skills; demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
    • Commercial banking experience helpful but not required
