Aprille Savarese

Aprille Savarese has worked in the banking and financial services industry for over 20 years.  She joined Zions Bancorporation in February 2018.   

As a member of the Enterprise Risk Management leadership team, Aprille oversees the Operational Risk Management (ORM) department. Her group is responsible for ensuring there are sound controls in place for operational, technology and cyber risk management.  During her tenure, she has created a centralized team inclusive of Corporate Security, BSA/AML, conduct risk and risk management governance. This team is responsible for detecting, preventing, and mitigating internal fraud, BSA/AML, and conduct risk within the risk management framework.  Additionally, in Q4 2018, she assumed oversight of the Enterprise Risk Management governance and regulatory exam management team which acts as the primary liaison between the regulatory agencies and the bank, coordinating supervisory examinations, delivering on regulatory commitments, and providing tracking and trend analysis of regulatory and internal examination findings.  The governance arm of ORM oversees corporate charters, policies, and frameworks, assuring alignment and consistency across the company. She currently chairs the Operational Risk Committee and Reputational Risk Council. 

Prior to joining Zion’s Bancorporation, Aprille worked for American Express for 17 years in various roles, most recently serving as the Vice President of Global Banking Compliance and Ethics responsible for the execution and oversight of American Express Centurion Bank and American Express Bank, FSB’s Compliance Committee of the Board inclusive of compliance policies, programs, and reporting.  During her tenure at American Express, she was involved with the launch of new products and capabilities, vendor management, change management and new accounts analytics. 

Aprille holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Utah, and a Bachelor of Science from George Mason University in Virginia.  She has also attended the American Bankers Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking /Wharton Leadership program.  Aprille is the former Chair of the Utah Bankers Association Compliance Committee and currently serves on the Enterprise Risk Management Committee for the RMA.
