Hema Parekh is a risk specialist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond focusing on supervision of large and complex financial institutions. Her primary focus areas include operational risk, operational resiliency, CCAR assessment, climate risk, governance, model risk, third party risk, cyber risk, merger integration risk, reputational risk, and compliance risk. Hema has also been involved in policy/guidance initiatives with the Federal Reserve Board. Hema represents Federal Reserve on the BCBS’s Operational Resiliency Group (“ORG”). 

Prior to joining the Fed Hema worked as a consultant adviser to large financial institutions. Hema has extensive experience working with the financial industry including working for a LISCC firm in various areas including Treasury and Balance Sheet management, Strategic Alliances and Investments, Technology Risk Strategy, Risk management and Finance. She is a certified CPA, CMA and Six Sigma Greenbelt. Hema earned her MBA from Emory University.

Hema has been a frequent speaker and panelist at industry groups events and conferences. In 2014 Hema contributed a chapter called “Reputational Risk in the Universe of Risks: Boundary Issues” for a book titled “Reputational Risk Management for Financial Institutions” , a book written by bankers, regulators, and academics from the US and Europe.
